Old Style Gym, Early 1900's
Our Class and Training Philosophy At The Energy Clinic you'll find our programs to be broad, diverse and constantly varied, meaning you will very rarely if ever do the same class twice. This is the first step in creating a functional fitness environment. Unlike traditional fitness fare, our goal isn't to specialise in one or two aspects of fitness but to ensure that our participants become proficient in a wide and diverse array of physical skills through the development of attributes in 10 areas of fitness, which include; Stamina, Strength, Flexibility, Power, Speed, Cardiovascular Endurance, Coordination, Agility, Balance, and Accuracy. As a result, participants in our classes will often find themselves jogging, jumping, pushing, dragging, pulling, punching, kicking, leaping and sprinting all in the one session! (Fear not, no prior dragging, punching or sprinting is expected however, some may require a few 1 on 1 sessions with a trainer to ensure maximum class enjoyment and safety). As Functional Fitness Specialists we enjoy participating in the growth and development of our participants as they empower themselves to develop a much higher level of physical and mental performance than they previously thought possible.
Our classes are suitable for all ages and fitness levels.

Kettlebells If you have spent even a small amount of time in a gym in the last 10 years then you would certainly have heard of the term 'Functional Fitness Training'. Functional Training, has re-emerged in recent years with exercise rehabilitation but has been transformed in recent years by some of the world’s best trainers and coaches into the most progressive form of athletic conditioning available anywhere in the world.
If you've never heard of kettlebells, you aren't alone. Although this piece of strength training equipment has been around for over 100 years, only recently has it caught the attention of mainstream athletes and fitness professionals and is now used extensively by mixed martial artists, athletes in just about every sport, rehabilitation experts and those in the entertainment community. Kettlebells are a favorite item in most CrossFit gyms, along with some other basic training items like weighted medicine balls, pull up bars, jump ropes and lots of free weights. What's So Great About Kettlebells? The reason for the boost in kettlebell training it that it gets back to basic training that requires functional, whole body fitness. Kettlebells require the practitioner to focus on whole-body conditioning because lifting and controlling a kettlebell forces the entire body and specifically the core, to contract as a group, building both strength and stability at the same time. Kettlebell workouts are a simple yet effective training tool which can and should be used by everybody interested in getting stronger, leaner and better.
Functional Fitness Training is also used to prepare the non athletic participant for both known and unknown conditions that can possibly be difficult, adverse or even hostile. (Think of carrying groceries up a flight of stairs in the rain while fumbling for keys, add cats, dogs and kids for hostile ;o) We believe quite strongly that the current model of fitness conditioning and training that has been popularised within gym environments over the last 15-20 years to be woefully inadequate in its roll to prepare its participants for real life situations. Come try our Functional classes and circuits they are very popular and get really great results.
