We are a strength and fitness conditioning company whose chief purpose is to provide an environment and training methodology that is designed for maximum success in both body shaping (Yes ladies, that includes body fat loss) and movement performance.

Training with us gets serious results, fast. Our objective is to develop functional movement and strength based skills for our clients which will, through increased work capacity, create positive and long-lasting physiological adaptations. (I.e. permanent fat loss, muscle gain and improved performance.) Our philosophy is simple. “What works for one may hinder another!”  Every client is treated individually at TEC.

We begin every client’s journey toward improved fitness and health with comprehensive fitness and health assessment to ensure we are designing the best possible program for YOU and not the last client through our door.

Each person is unique in the way they move, thus the strengths, weaknesses, imbalances and overall structure of each person, both skeletal and muscular, is very different. Because of this, every client undergoes a comprehensive Initial Assessment to ensure each program is safe, effective and specifically goal oriented.

We've heard it all before... Top 10 excuses used to NOT use The Energy Clinic

  1. "I'm not fit enough" - You'd be surprised how often we hear this pearler.  You are coming to us because you need our services to help you attain better fitness.  We specialise in taking people from Zero to Hero.
  2. "I can't afford it" - We have a variety of programs at The Energy Clinic to suit all budgets.  Give us a call and ask us how we'd tailor a program to both your time and fiscal budget.
  3. "I'm already pretty fit" - This one tells me that you're not as fit as you may think.  Very few athletes would dream of saying that to a trainer, as they would know that there are so many different aspects to fitness and that a good trainer or coach will always find areas that need attention.
  4. "I have a gym at home" - That's nice, but do you use it and if you do, do you know if your doing the right thing?  Do your feet pronate during a squat?  Are your movements quad dominant or are you able to get enough glute activation? Can you show us the difference between a squat and a dead lift movement pattern. (Note we haven't even added equipment yet)  Come play with us and we'll teach you why knowing these things is vital to good training.
  5. "I've got a gym membership already" - We have plenty of clients who maintain their memberships at other gyms.  They come to us because we are VERY good at what we do. In fact, there is a good chance that the instructors at your gym come to us as clients to learn more about fitness.  We run Cert 3 and Cert 4 in Personal Training at our studio as well as lectures for existing trainers in a myriad of fitness topics.
  6. "I already work with a personal trainer" - Cool, that's great.  But are they worth the money you're throwing at them.  If you haven't been run through a postural check AND a bio-mechanical check then run for the hills cause they are not a good trainer despite the fact that you think they are 'nice'. Here is a quick test.  Ask them to test your external rotation of your hips...  It should be an easy and measurable test.
  7. "I live too far away" - Yes, if you live in Victoria you are too far away.  But remember that you can sign up to our Energy Bulletins on the front page and get Ed-ja-ma-kated via e-mail for free no matter where you live.
  8. "I'm worried that you're going to kill me" - Well, we haven't killed anyone yet.  In fact, we are very proud of the fact that we are extremely good at fixing people.  We are NOT a Smash'm-&-Thrash'm fitness company, where we think the harder we push you the better your results will be.  Our training philosophy requires a high degree of technical skill which we will teach you. We will not hurt you or ask you to do anything that we don't think you can do.
  9. "I have an existing injury" - BRING IT ON.  We are VERY good at rehabilitation and exercise therapy.
  10. "I don't have the time" - Lot's of people use this as an excuse.  The funny thing is that everyone can find the time if health and fitness is a priority.  Most people wait until their health takes an exaggerated step backward.  Why wait till then?

 Testimonials

I would like to thank you (Gaynor) for helping me change my life and to appreciate the benefits of a proper training regime. When I found out that I now have type two diabetes, I knew that I needed to change my lifestyle.

You were highly recommended to me as a personal trainer and I quickly realised that your approach to my situation was one of understanding and I quickly became aware that fitness is more than just lifting weights at a gym.

You encouraged me to change my lifestyle within which lies my ability to change my metabolism as well as to support my nutrition with the Juice Plus supplements. I know that I would not have been able to make the changes without your support.

You have continued to support me with a fitness program within the gym and I now enjoy going to training and I know that I will never go back to my old habits.

Once again please accept my appreciation for all your help.

Hi Duncan,

Well here is my story about the cost of exercise vs. cigarettes.

Over 3 years ago I stopped smoking, even though no one thought I could, but I did. The costs of cigarettes were less than today, but I still spent about $90 per week or $4,700 per year.

I started with The Energy Clinic about 2 years ago. I had put on a little weight and decided it was time to get fit and do something for myself. I began with 2 functional fitness classes and then took the leap and did a bootee camp, a few months later I did some vibration training, then more bootee camps. I thought at the time that it was all costing a bit, so I went back and totaled everything up.

Guess what? Not only has my annual training costs at The Energy Clinic not reached the annual cost of cigarettes, but I am so much healthier. (I would say investing in a good exercise program is a better investment than cigarettes, lol)

I can move much better now and can now enjoy Bootee Camp (mostly ;o) and do them regularly plus the 2 classes.  My nutrition is much improved. I am healthier and deal with stress better. Now, every time I think the cost for exercise is high, I think of when I use to buy cigarettes.

I still have fitness goals to reach for myself and have maintained a regular exercise pattern for 2 years. I have to say I could not maintain my exercise without the help of The Energy Clinic. I have attended an ordinary Gym and usually stop going after a few months.

Thank you to Duncan, Gaynor and Bel.

Cheers,

Celine

When people listen to anyone on breakfast radio, they assume the worst. And I’m not talking about the bad puns on the name Stephanie Rice or the fart sound effects that are played during political speeches. I’m talking about physical appearance. In short people assume when you’re on radio you’re overweight and pretty damn ugly. The phrase “good head for radio” comes to mind. Basically people assume you weren’t just hit by the ugly stick, you ran through the whole damn forest.

And look, I won’t lie to you- it hurts. Especially when you’re as devastatingly handsome as myself. It’s easy to feel glum, and munch on donuts and tim tams and gradually pork up like many of my colleagues. But I decided to fight, so I joined a gym. The Next Generation to be precise. Not a bad gym I must admit. I could watch the premier league while strolling on the treadmill, and then head down to the café for a felafel, fries and a beer afterwards. But did I challenge myself? No. Did I learn anything about my body? No. Did I learn the right and wrong way to exercise? No. Did I learn anything about nutrition? Clearly not. Am I asking too many rhetorical questions? Yes.

Enter stage left Duncan and the guys at the Energy clinic. I was introduced to Duncan when my wife met Olympic gymnast Ji Wallace. (Gee, how dodgy does that sound?) And I agreed to undertake some training at the Energy Clinic. Duncan began to make me do strange things I had never attempted before like “push ups” and “squats”. And not only that, he started to tell me what muscles I was using and why it was important to use them. (To be honest I wasn’t really listening as they all seemed to have ridiculous names like “rectus abdominus” which sounded to me like a bowel complaint).

Duncan also put me on this strange vibrating device, which, if it didn’t tone your muscles so well, would probably only be sold in “liberated bookshops”. And just when I thought I’d rush home and drown my aches and pains with a gyros and corona, Duncan began to encourage me to eat weird exotic foods like “fruit” and “vegetables”. He produced a chart showing all the healthy nutrients contained in just one apple. It was amazing. No wonder Adam was tempted in the garden of Eden.

Ever since that day, my wife and I go twice a week to see Duncan at The Energy Clinic. He always works you hard, challenges you, but also teaches you about your body at the same time. He’s not only got me doing forward rolls, handstands, pumping iron and performing some weird kind of Turkish Standy-Up thing, he’s also made me see a chiropractor to get my back fixed up which turned out to be really needed. In short, it’s money well spent. I feel great for the rest of the day after a session at The Energy Clinic. And did I say he’s a really great guy? (Aside from the Canadian accent of course. But don’t bring that up, he’s a little sensitive and might make you do something called a “burpie”).
